Fast bowler Mohammad Wasim withdrew from practise citing back strain prior to Pakistan’s opening cricket match against India after pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was ruled out of the Asia Cup.
The pacer was sent for a preventative MRI scan determine the severity of his injury since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn’t want to “risk a potential long-term injury.”.
Mohammad Wasim made his international debut in July of last year, since the teenager has played in eight ODIs and 11 T20’s.
As Pakistan is already without its star bowler Shaheen due to a lingering knee ligament injury acquired in July, the team management is hoping that Wasim’s injury is not significant and that he can recover in time for the competition.
The scheduled clash with arch-rivals India in their tournament opener is on Sunday.
