
The Agnipath scheme which was announced on June 14 for the recruitment of youths in the indian army who will be called ‘ Agniveers’ will be inducting 46,000 soldiers this year.
Gorkha soldiers from Nepal have been recruited in indian army for a long time and the exercise will continue under the newly launched Agnipath recruitment scheme. There are 43 battalions in the Gorkha regiments of the Indian Army, which are made up of both Indian and Nepalese recruits.
Under the Agnipath programme the youth between the ages of 17 and a half and 21 years is recrutted for only four years, with the option of keeping 25 percent of them for an additional 15 years
